Legal Administrative Assistant: Job Prospects and Salary Information

Employment opportunities for paralegals and legal assistants are expected to grow faster than the national average – about 22% through 2016. Gain the training you need to become a paralegal or legal assistant to meet this growing demand!

Paralegals and legal assistants are an integral part of the legal system. Law firms are trying to reduce the costs and increase the availability and efficiency of legal services. Paralegals and legal assistants help by performing tasks that lawyers would normally perform.

Demand for paralegals also is expected to grow as an expanding population increasingly requires legal services. The growth of prepaid legal plans also should contribute to the demand for legal services. Help meet this demand by training to become a legal administrative assistant or paralegal.

Salaries vary for paralegals and legal assistants. The range depends on experience, size of law firm and training. In May of 2006, full-time, wage-and-salary paralegals and legal assistants had median annual earnings, including bonuses, of $43,040. The middle 50% earned between $33,920 and $54,690.
