South Coast College Outstanding Alumni Give Back

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

South Coast College in Orange County is fortunate to have the outstanding alumni that it has.  Many of the alumni who are themselves busy people still think about how they were motivated by speakers while they were in school and come back to share their enthusiasm for the field with our students.

Rachael Moore, CSR, visited in August after returning from five weeks in Italy.  Rachael is 21 years old and completed the court reporting program in less than two years and passed the CSR on the first attempt.  Dustin Huffer, CSR, said that hearing her when he started motivated him.

Robert Sullivan, CSR, was a speaker in September.  Robert reads the CSR examination and is an official reporter in Orange County.  He has been a loyal alumnus and has been awarded an Outstanding Alumnus Award.  His message to students was to have as much enthusiasm at the end of the program as you did at the beginning.  Students loved his witty stories and enjoyed talking with him afterwards.

Robert Short, CSR, is an international reporter.  He had just returned from Africa when he dropped in during the evening program.  Students were inspired to type.  As a result, a number of students passed the very next tests that they took.

Dustin Huffer, CSR, who is now working as a deposition reporter spoke at Kevin Magner’s computer concepts class on being a CART reporter.  Dustin also is a skilled CART reporter.  During the same evening, Kris Tanoue, CSR, spoke on realtime reporting.  Kris now works in Los Angeles Superior Court.
