South Coast College offers more than 50 years of experience in the training of court reporters.  South Coast College is known to have one of the most outstanding Court Reporting Programs in the country. As a student in the Court Reporting Program at South Coast College, you will be prepared with the skills and knowledge that you need to pass the Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) Examination and begin a career in Court Reporting. You will find that many of the students and graduates of the Court Reporting Program and the other programs have moved to California to attend South Coast College. South Coast College offers a Paralegal Studies Program to prepare individuals to enter the legal field with the necessary skills and knowledge to become valuable legal team members.  Although not a pre-requisite for entry into the Paralegal Studies Program, many of our students already possessed degrees in various disciplines but need practical skills in order to obtain entry into the legal arena.  An Associates Degree from the Paralegal Studies Programat South Coast College provides just that -- the ability to transition into the legal field.  As a Paralegal Studies student, you will be trained by legal professionals who teach in the areas of their expertise.  You will find them to be knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about helping you to succeed.

Our History

South Coast College has a rich history of success dating back to 1961. We have helped individuals improve their lives through education and career training for more than 50 years. Our caring, student-oriented approach provides a nurturing environment in which to practice and learn.

South Coast College was founded in 1961 in Long Beach, California, as a private college called Stenotype School of Long Beach. The School relocated to Westminster in 1974, and the corporate name was changed to Whitley College. In 1980, Orange County College of Court Reporting merged into Whitley College, and the name was changed to South Coast College. The School moved from Westminster to Anaheim in 1993. Then in 2001, South Coast College relocated to a larger, freeway-accessible facility in the city of Orange, where we currently help students like you prepare for legal and medical careers.
